What is the correct name for this dictionary? I do have the GrammerCheckerList, but not the SpellCheckers. I took a brief look in the Linguistic.xcu file (located in ~/./3/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/) and it does not have the section like this: Just an FYI since I didn't answer a question a couple posts back, when I deleted my user profile, I did not import the old settings, I started off fresh. The extension manager still shows the English dictionary as installed. In the Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages -> Default languages for documents -> Western, I do not see the ABC blue check mark beside English (USA) (or beside any other language for that matter). I'm starting to give up hope on this one. In that page it explains that there should be a file called Linguistic.xcu. I followed a link from tutorial page to this page that explains a little more on the extension dictionaries. Within that folder there are the dictionaries.xcu and the description.xml files as described in that tutorial. I checked to see if it had been installed correctly and it appears to be in ~/./3/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/0tthqa_/en_USA.oxt/ Is this the correct folder? I used the "American English Spell Checking 1.0". Okay, removed all extensions and installed (for my user only) the extension via the extension manager. That's indeed strange to have the extensions installed and no blue checkmark. Precise location is given in that section of the tutorial: 4. I also checked the ~/,/3/user/uno_packages and there doesn't appear to be any dictionaries in there, I thought from what I was reading that is where they should be. I also followed the directions to reset my profile (deleted the old user directory in ~/./3/user. But they show up under the extension manager. I checked all the languages and there are no dictionaries with checkmarks. ![]() There is no blue "ABC" checkmark to the left of the language. Here's where the troubleshooting guide failed me. I then went to the (Tools -> Language -> All Text -> More) to check which dictionary is enabled, and in the "Default languages for documents" and "Western" the "English (USA)" is selected. Of note here is that they do appear with a Lock icon in the top right hand corner (I believe this means that they were installed by root, and as such I can't modify them). I then restarted the entire computer to make sure that there were no remaining processes stopping this from being recognized. I first checked to make sure that I have a dictionary installed via the extension manager (Tools -> Extension Manager), and I have the "English spelling and hyphenation dictionaries and thesaurus) installed. The third box in the bottom information bar shows "English (USA)" I've gone through the troubleshooting guide described here: Just trying to migrate from version 2.1 to 3.0 and having some problems getting the spell checker to work. ![]()
